The last day… we went all day to the Trasimeno lake. We went there with Patirce’s camper. For all of us it was the first time we went in such a home on wheels. There is a little kitchen, fridge, toilette and even a shower. Of course nobody had a shower there but we had fun. The lake is great. It’s the third biggest Italian lake. There are three islands on it and it’s really big. The season is over so there were not many people around. The beach was empty even though the weather was fantastic today. It’s hard to believe that in the end of October the temperature can be so high!!! What it will be like home :( After a short walk along the lake in Passignano Patrice invited us all to the restaurant to have the final lunch together there. There were so many people. The restaurant is quit well known and it specializes in pizza baked on hot stones. It’s really impressive. The pizza like this is called torta al testa and it’s filled with ham, rucola and stracchino cheese. We also had a try of all the other specialties they make from calamari and shrimps to supple, fried mozzarella, yellow pepper and crabs. At the end we had huge pieces of cakes. Everybody took a different king to try as many of them as possible. Pasha also took a nice cappuccino and at the end of the meal we felt all about to explode. Even David and Patrice’s mother came with us so it was a really family day out. Only Laura stayed at home to take care of the animals and other domestic jobs. Unfortunately somebody has to do them!! On our way back we stopped in a big supermarket to do the really last shopping and off we went home. On our way back we were so tired that we all slept all the way back. Then at home last packing… the bottles of wine and olive oil that we made to take home and a frantic atmosphere before a long trip. But even the last day Alexandra didn’t let us go and she showed us how to make tiramisu. It was fantastic!!! Later there were just the certificates and the documents. We all did well and here our Italian adventure ends. We had fun , we missed a bit home sometimes. We worked with our smart hands we definitely opened our minds.

Ciao tutti!!!

We went to our working places, Tanja and Masha went to bakery and Pavel and Maria went to help Patrice. Today Alexandra and also Pasha and Masha made dinner. We tried 2 new types of pizza, fried pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella and the other was sweet pizza. We could also try parmiggiana with cardi . It was new taste for us... but it was good. After lunch Tanja and Maria went again to bakery as there came a big order from one of the shops and we had to deal with it. Pavel and Maria started picking olives. We also had a little test in Italian and culture and we all made it well. It was really easy !!!! In the evening we went to Spoleto to make last shopping and to say good bye to the town.

Wednesday.
This day there was no baking. After breakfast we were doing our documents and Alexandra gave us recipes for the things that we learnt here. For lunch we had good fried meat. After the meal we went to pick olives. It is enough only to touch them to get them fall down. It is important to place the bucket to the right place so olive do not fall to ground. About 5 o’clock we all went to bakery to make pizza all together. We did 10 different types of pizza, with salami, onion and mozzarella, onion and potato and many other ingredients. Pasha even tried to trow the pasta to make it like the real pizza makers do and he was quite successful in it. Pizza was made in wooden oven. When you make pizza in electric oven you have to cook it twice as long. And it’s important for the pizza to cook rapidly. Pizza was great! But it was too much to eat it all. This pizza is different from pizza made in restaurant.

This day was usual. In the morning Tanja and Masha were in bakery. Pavel and Maria were picking olives to make oil. In the evening we had some free time in Spoleto.
It was nothing special today but there are days like this as well. We start packing some of the things and we slowly think about how we will support the cold estonian weather after this sunny, italian october. BRRRRRRR!!!

Like other mornings, this morning starts for Tanja and Masha from warm bakery. They did new type of bread rolls for dinner. You use milk to make pasta for this bread rolls. Meanwhile Pavel and Maria were helping Patrice and after lunch we all went to pick olives. Today we had special dinner, because we had guests from the restaurant. Our boss and his wife with son came to the farm to speak about Pavel’s and Masha’s practice in restaurant. Alexandra made onion soup, the bakers made pies with sausage and cheese and the cooks made potato pie. For dessert we had a cake that was made by Gian Pierro’s wife, Katia. It is the most traditional cake in Spoleto. It has quiet strange taste, but it is still tasty. It has a consistence of a pudding and it’s called la crecsionda . Dinner was wonderful.

Sunday is a free day. So Tanja went to Rome alone to see her friends and we were staying on the farm. In the evening Pasha and Masha went to the restaurant, because restaurants in Italy work every day excluding Monday. This day there were a lot of orders in the restaurant. We did a lot different starters and pizzas. Also we saw how to make rabbit mean on the grill and different types of pasta. The day was difficult but also useful and sometimes funny. It was our last day in the restaurant. But we did not know it yet.
24.10.09
This day Pavel was helping Patrice to make flour. Also we were helping in producing olive oil.
Pavel and Maria went to the restaurant to do their practice, me and Maria stayed on the farm. In the evening there were tourists from Rome. We were helping Alexandra in the kitchen and also serving the tourists’ dinner. We were making antipasto, bacon with sage, pasta with meat souce and meat. For dessert we had apple cake called “Ciambella”. After that we did some cleaning jobs and went to sleep.

After traditional Italian breakfast bakers went to bakery for practice. Today e had a lot of things to do. We baked a lot of (kamut bianco and integrale, segale, farro ..)… All job was done before lunch. After tasty lunch we went to Perugia to present our products. When we reached the shop we presented our products on nice plates and were hoping for the clients to try them. Alexandra spoke about how the products are made and what ingredients are used. It was an interesting but long day so Masha and Pasha didn’t go to the restaurant so at dinner home we were all together.
22.10.09
This day in bakery was quiet different from others. Me and Maria were making usual order, but after lunch Pavel and Maria B. changed us in bakery and started to do cookies (tozzetti with almonds, rise cakes, coconut biscuits and also the croissants!!) and other tasty things to present our production next day in Perugia. Meanwhile Maria and me went to help Patrice with making olive oil. Also we tried to do coco cookies. They are very easy to make and vary tasty. You need only eggs, sugar and coconut to make them. Alexandra calls them «Brutti ma buoni»,what means not well looking but tasty. On Friday we will go to Perugia for presentation in BIO shop “Natura Si”.
And in the evening Pavel and Maria went to restaurant, as usual.

The day started with very nice wheather that stayed with us all day long.We arrived in Rome by train and the rest of the day walked around the city in odrer to see it as well as possible in one day. Having wandered on the streets of this beautiful city and haveing bought some of the souvenires we went to lunch to McDonald’s. Patrice offered it to us as a reward for all the extra jobs that we did. It was very nice of him. After a fast food lunch we started the cultural part of the trip and we visited most important and wonderful sights of Rome. Our first sight was the famous Trevi Fountain. There is a tradition of throwing some small money into the waters of this fountain and to make a wish to come back once again to Rome. From Barberini square we went to the Pantheon. We learnt that it was constracted by Mark Agrippa – a Roman emperor to worship five roman gods, that’s where the name comes from pante means five in Latin. Today it’s a catholic church with a wonderful architecture. You can visit there the important graves like the last two kings of Italy and the grave of Raphael. The church has a very interesting construction. The doom is the biggest in the world without any support. In addition the is a large hole in it so when it rains the water comes inside and it’s collected in big reservoirs under the floor. From there we walked through the governmental district with important ministers and the parlament palazzo chigi. Later we have some free time to do some shopping’s. after that we went to Piazza Venezia to see the National Monument. It is the representation of the highest patriotic Italian values and tourists are strictly controlled to respect them. There is no food, no screaming, no running :). We went upstairs as high as it was possibly to admire the magnificent view of the eternal city. It’s difficult to describe the beauty of this place with words it is splendid, you should see it yourself! ;) After Alexandra showed us 2 famous statues and after that we went to Coliseum. Unfortunately we did not go inside, but we could see it outside. It is difficult to imagine how a building like this could be build without modern technologies. Is name comes from a huge statue of Colas which was standing in front of it before. We bought some souvenirs there, than we went back to Roma Terni. On the train station Alexandra bought for us some meals and it was our dinner and we had in train during the way to Spoleto. This day was very long and full of interesting things and events.
