Salve tutti!!! ))
Today is Monday.
Alexandra, Maria V. and I went to the bakery to make tasty and healthy bakery products. Apart from bread we will also make other products like bread rolls of different types and with different seeds like poppy seeds, sesame, linen seeds and pumpkin seeds mixed with sunflower seeds. We discovered that this products are only produced and consumed in winter time as the Italian in summer hardly eat any bread. It’s simply too hot. We have been told that the temperatures in summer can reach 40 degrees Celsius so you don’t feel like eating at all. The opern doors day was the inauguration of the winter season so all the products that we made will be regularly made till next summer. At the same time Pavel and MariaB. Worked in the countine filling the bottles with white wine and helping to finish the proces of fermentation of this year’s wine. At lunch time we went all to the kitchen to see how to make “past asciuta” : olive oil, tomatoes smashed and coke and at the end of coking proces some freash cream. Of course at the end everything is sprinkled with grated parmesan. It wa s very good. After lunch we had som etime to relax and to self study. We were all revising the italian language. :)
Unfortunately the weather changed. When we were studying quel in our rooms the lessons outside there was a terrible thunder storm. It was a typical mediterranean storm: very violentbut very short lasting with the rapid change of temperatures Just to tell you in one hour from 27 degrees we went to 17. Believe us it’s a real shock!!! Patrice said that finaly the estonian weather came to us too!!! The weather forcast says that it will be so cold for the next two , three days and later everything should come the the normal temperature that is about 24 gdegrees. We really hope so. We got used to the lovely italian sunny weather that we really miss it. What it will be like when we go back home!!??
In the evening we were all busy in the kitchen. We were making PESTO!!!!! After a long search Alxandra managed to buy fresh basil =) The preparation of this sauce is surprisingly easy and quick. All that you need is …. fresh basil, garlic, pine tree seeds and of course the olive oil. What is important is that the ingredients have to be fresh and of the good quality more than ever because the sauce is not cooked. Especially olive oil has to be really good as it is used in bigger quantity. NB! It is one of the few sauces in italian kitchen that you don’t cook at all if not the basil will get dark and it will look horrible and it will loose all the taste. The pasta alla pesto is fantastic! We went to beds with full stomachs and nice taste of basil in the mouth :)
