11.10.2009

Today we had an open door day. Here, on the farm came a lot of Patrice’s clients and new potential clients. Maria B. and Pavel were helping Gian Luca in the kitchen. Gian Luca is a cook specialized in organic food cooking. He has an organic shop and bar in Spoleto. He takes products from the Farm. They were making pasta with different types of sauces: vegetable ragù, fresh tomatoes and basil, wild mushrooms and melanzane. Maria V. and Tanya were baking the variety of cakes, biscuits, croissants, bread rolls etc. We started early in the morning with Alexandra and practically the gusts were coming in to see how we were making the products and they were tasting them. We used different types of flours: kamut – it is an old antique Egyptian grain very much used in organic products you can also use it for making pasta; ray flour – very dark flour but very tasty; mais and the durum wheat. Anyway the thing that we liked most of all were the biscuits with raisins and pine seeds. We will bring the recipe!!!
There were so many people! Among them there were some journalists from Holland writing for a gastronomical review They will be writing a reportage about Fattoria Biologica Patrice. They will also write about us!!! The guests were invited to have lunch on the farm. We also had lunch with them. When we came to the terrace there was an applause for all of us. It was really nice. The food was really good. But the attractions are not finished. There was also a folk music group playing and singing a traditional Italian folk music. It was such a fun!!!It was a very busy day and only when the gusts left and we cleaned up a bit we had some free time. For dinner we could try some traditional “creama di ceci” Alexandra explained to us that it was so called the soup of the poor as it was eaten by very poor people in the past who couldn’t effort to buy meat. It was a meat substitute for the as it is full of protein.
At the end of the day we were all very tired but very happy and satisfied with our job.
